Security and your data
This page is the short version of what the app does with your data, and where each control is. The full account, with every external processor named, is on Security & data handling.
No broker passwords
Borderfolio never asks for a broker login. Portfolios are built from files you upload, holdings you type in, or read-only API credentials you create at Freedom24 or Interactive Brokers, stored encrypted and revocable at the broker at any time. Nothing in the app can place a trade or move money. See Connecting a broker.
What is kept from a statement
From a statement the app keeps the instruments, quantities, prices, dates, dividends and the import record. The original file is stored privately so a failed import can be re-run, and is deleted automatically after seven days. When no format-specific parser covers a file, its contents are sent to an extraction model to be read. The details, including what is never stored, are on Security & data handling.
Password and sessions
Change your password under Profile & Settings → Security; you need the current one. Passwords are at least eight characters. You stay signed in on a device for up to 30 days unless you sign out.
Deleting a portfolio
Open the switcher → Manage portfolios → Delete portfolio, and type the portfolio's name to confirm. Its positions, contributions, snapshots, dividend records and statement history are removed.
Deleting your account
Profile & Settings → Security → Delete account, then type DELETE to confirm. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone: it cancels an active subscription, deletes stored statement files, and erases your profile, every portfolio and its history, and all sessions, signing you out everywhere. Only a one-way hash of your email address is kept, so that the same address cannot register again for 30 days.
Product analytics
Product analytics in the browser (PostHog, EU region) runs only after you accept the cookie bar, with autocapture and session recording switched off and on-screen text masked. A handful of account events (such as registration, portfolio creation and a completed import) are recorded by the server under an anonymous ID, without your email.
