The commission runs for 365 days from the first payment and then ends.
The terms
A visit that is more than 60 days old is no longer attributed, and where a reader has clicked more than one partner link inside that window, the most recent one is credited. The affiliate documentation sets out the link format, the cookie, how a signup is attributed and every edge case in full.
How to start
Email admin@borderfolio.app with where you publish and roughly who reads it. A link is enough; there is no application form and no minimum audience size. Partners are approved by hand rather than through a self-serve sign-up, so expect a reply rather than an instant account.
Once you are set up you get your referral link and access to the Freemius affiliate dashboard, where clicks, referrals and commissions are visible to you directly — you do not have to ask us for numbers. Payout method and schedule are agreed with you when you are approved.
Who the product fits
Worth reading before you spend a post on it, because the product is deliberately narrow.
- People who hold US or Irish-domiciled funds while living somewhere else. The cross-border layer estimates dividend withholding per fund from its domicile against the tax residence the reader configures, and shows the second tax step at home. It is most useful where those two countries differ.
- Interactive Brokers users who contribute monthly. The recurring question “how much of this balance did I put in, and how much did the market add” is what the product exists to answer.
- Anyone whose investment spreadsheet has stopped being updated. The migration is re-importing the statements the sheet was typed from, not rebuilding formulas.
- FIRE audiences in the accumulation phase, where contribution pace against a target is the number that matters month to month.
Where it is a poor fit: day trading and crypto-first audiences, readers who want live prices or automatic broker synchronisation, and anyone looking for filing-ready tax documents. The product updates from statements you upload, prices from official closing quotes, and every tax figure is an estimate rather than a filing.
What to send people to
The sample portfolio opens a private copy of a real multi-year portfolio with no sign-up and no card, so a reader can judge the contribution-versus-growth breakdown on data that already has history behind it before deciding whether to hand over anything of their own. Readers who then want to try their own numbers can use the free tier — one portfolio, up to 10 holdings, three document imports a month.

Two things we ask
- Say that the link is an affiliate link. Not a legal formality — the audience this product needs is exactly the audience that notices an undisclosed one.
- Do not oversell the tax side. Every tax figure in the product is an informational estimate with its assumptions shown, not filing-ready output and not advice. A post promising otherwise produces refunds, and refunds are clawed back.
Beyond that: no bidding on the brand name in paid search, no fabricated reviews or fake screenshots, and no claims that the product connects to Interactive Brokers — it reads an uploaded statement, and that difference matters to the people you are writing for.

30% of what a customer you referred pays, for their first 365 days. On the monthly plan that is $4.50 a month for up to twelve months; on the annual plan it is $44.70. The free tier pays no commission because nothing is charged for it.
Is the commission recurring?
Within the first year, yes — you earn on every payment the customer makes during their first 365 days, not only on the first one. After 365 days the commission ends.
How long does the referral cookie last?
60 days, with last-click attribution: a visit older than that is no longer attributed, and where a reader clicked more than one partner link inside the window, the most recent one is credited.
